Payment of wages

  • General minimum wage in BC is $10.85 and liquor server's minimum wage is  $9.60 per hour.

  • All employees must be paid for at least 2 hours even if you worked less.

  • Wages must be paid at least twice a month. All money earned in a pay period, including overtime and statutory holiday pay, must be paid within eight days after the end of the pay period, except annual vacation pay and wages credited to an employee’s time bank. A pay period may not exceed 16 days.

  • Overtime rate is 1.5 times of the normal rate after 8 hours of work in a day and 2 times of the normal rate after 12 hours of work in a day.
